Things to understand

It’s true. When there are so many unhappy people around us, so many disasters going around.. you might feel guilty for being happy.

Tbh these days when I study positive psychology and it includes concepts of happiness and wellbeing I feel weird. Like why am I doing this? I’m not even in the mood of thinking about wellbeing when I’m seeing problems all around me.

But then I realised, positive psychology is not just about feeling happy emotions all the time.

When you are feeling low, you’re facing real problems and feeling like you are stuck in dark cave of hopelessness, positive psychology helps you accept your situation, believe that you can get out of this and helps you actually deal with the situation in a helpful way.

That made me get back to studies. Plus, it also encouraged me to apply all the interventions that I’m learning about in my daily life and benefit from that.

When you feel low, you don’t really want to do anything. Your attention is focused at one particular negative thing and you simply ignore everything positive that’s around you.

When we feel negative emotions our immediate response is fight or flight. We narrow down our focus. For human beings to survive this is necessary.

But at the same time there are benefits of feeling positive emotions.

When you feel better not only you take other things into consideration, you are more likely to contribute to others happiness.

We all know that we can’t give what we don’t have. What about happiness then? How could you make others happy when you are feeling low?

Again there’s nothing wrong with feeling low. I understand. These are tough times. We all are going through a lot. It’s okay to feel sadness, anger, grief. It’s completely natural. It’s human.

Take your time. Recharge. Refill yourself with love and care.

But remember you are not hurting anyone by being happy. In fact, research has proven this – you are much more likely to contribute to others happiness when you yourself are happy and grateful.

Take care guys!❤️

May I be kind to myself

When I talk to myself,
May I be kind
For I know that the kindness I plant in my heart,
Determines the way I’ll go

May I be kind to myself
When I make a mistake,
When I am hurt,
When things go wrong

May I be kind to myself
And validate my pain
Say “this hurts”
And remind myself
I am not the only one,
Suffering is a part of life

May I be kind to myself,
Place a hand on my heart
And say
“Keep going, brave one
For this too shall pass”

Entrepreneurship

I still remember the time when I first learnt the word ‘entreprenur’. It was in 9th grade, in our economics lecture.

I remember thinking – How awesome these entrepreneurs are… Starting a company, making it successful, is not an easy task. I wonder how they do it…

When I started going to college, I began researching about entrepreneurship.

I came across wonderful people and their inspiring stories. I always loved to study successful people. The best resource I had was YouTube. It’s flooded with entrepreneurship videos. I also learnt a lot from Malcom Gladwell’s book Tipping Point and Outliers.

That’s when I came across people like Gary Vee, Grant Cardone, Dan Lok, Evan Charmichael, Elon Musk, Richard Brandson and many others. And I realised there are more entrepreneurs than famous Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.

Entrepreneurship, I learnt, is about serving others in the best possible way. Creating the products that will be helpful to masses and then doing the marketing and getting sales.

That’s something I really like about entrepreneurship. It’s about helping people in the best possible way and being smart to get what you deserve as well.

Entrepreneurs learn many lessons along the way of creating a successful company.

It’s not about becoming a millionaire, it’s about the journey you go through to get there. It’s about the lessons you learn along the way to get there. It’s more about the journey than the destination.

As you see, these entrepreneurs don’t boast about what they have now, but tell you about the journey they went through to create something, to build something.

Entrepreneurs need to learn the value of hard work and patience, dedication and passion, resilience and optimism, dealing with different clients and making sales. All of this is something we’d like to learn and apply in our life as well.

Some people cheat to make their way and not everyone who makes it to the top has put in the hard work. But most of them have and those are the people who are constantly raising the bar high. Setting high standards.

Entrepreneurship is also about executing your ideas in the best possible way. Walt Disney wanted to entertain children and inspire them to create positive changes in the society. He executed it beautifully and became one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the history of the world.

Fact – Mickey Mouse is now worth 178 billion dollars!

Entrepreneurship is about creating something that will be helpful to people, something that will last even after the founder is no more. Not the commonly understood belief that ‘Only money motivates entrepreneurs’ Nope! Even legacy does.

Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.

I deeply admire successful entrepreneurs. There’s so much to learn from them..

Who’s your favorite entrepreneur?

Note to self – 7 (when things don’t go the way you expect)

Okay. So this happens always many times.

You want to get selected in the dance competition that’s coming up, but you don’t.

You try to make a move towards your crush and you come to know he/she is already in a relationship.

You work hard to get the promotion, yet you are denied.

So what can you tell yourself in these moments of “This cannot be happening…”?

Dear Self,

Why do you expect life to be easy? Why do you expect you will somehow know everything before it happens..?

Life is unpredictable. Every single moment is unpredictable. And unfortunately we cannot do anything about it.

What you can do, is accept difficulties as a part of life.

And be honest with yourself.. –

Every problem doesn’t leave you broken and miserable.

You learn a lot when you face problems. And when you learn, you grow..

Life isn’t supposed to be easy. It is supposed to bring growth. It is supposed to be exicting. It is supposed to bring out the best in you. And at most times, ease doesn’t result into growth.

So try to accept every single thing that happens as if it is the best that can happen. And try to make it as better as you can.

When you come across something different than you expected, ask yourself

“Okay, this is happening. What is the best thing that I can do now?”

You are capable of doing this. You can make the best out of this situation that you are in.

Can you?

Just try! (◠‿◕)

Love,

Me
